IASGP Election Trip – Applications

Featured image for the post: IASGP Election Trip – Applications

The IASGP board members are proposing that the 2021 Election Trip will go ahead despite the uncertain public health situation, from Wednesday 22nd September to Monday 27th September.

Five nights of accommodation will be provided. We are being generously supported by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and will also contribute from our organisation’s own resources.

To ensure that our prospective activities in Berlin run smoothly and safely, the number of participants has to be restricted. We thus ask you to apply in writing by filling in this form (https://forms.gle/K7V2eVdfAQWurS567) by Friday 30 July 2021 at 17:00 British Summer Time. Once you press the button ‘Submit’, you should receive a confirmation email with a copy of your answers. Your answers can be amended until the closing date.

If you are unable to access or submit the form, please contact us at intasgp@gmail.com.

We particularly encourage early career colleagues and women to apply.

We also ask you to be mindful of the consequences of the pandemic on the organisation of the trip. Please carefully read and consider the information below before applying.

. If your application is successful, we will ask you to book flights (or other forms of travel) that are cancellable where possible

. If public health advice changes and the trip is no longer viable, we will pivot to a virtual event so far as is possible.

. Individual participants are responsible for checking their institutional policies around travel and making their own insurance arrangements.

. Individual participants are responsible for any Covid-testing requirements, and the IASGP is not able to make a financial contribution to these.

For participants from outside Europe, we will offer a travel bursary of up to €600. For those inside Europe (but not Germany) who are doctoral students, early career scholars or who would face financial barriers to participation, a travel bursary of €250 can be made available, with a smaller bursary of €150 available to those in the same category from Germany.  Hotel accommodation will be funded for all participants from outside Germany, as well meals taken as a group.

Because of the restricted numbers, we will prioritise those who had a record of active involvement in the IASGP, for instance by attendance at events, and / or its journal German Politics.  We will also seek to achieve a diverse group in terms of career stage, gender and ethnicity so far as is possible.
