As the current circumstances push us to be creative and find new ways to meet and exchange thoughts, we are very excited to announce the very first online IASGP annual conference that is due to take place on Thursday 19th of November 2020 at 1.30pm London time (2.30pm Berlin) via Zoom.

The conference will take place in the afternoon to allow as many of our members, including American colleagues, to join the event, and is scheduled to last for a couple of hours. After an introductory plenary session, we will break up into smaller groups to discuss important topics related to German and Austrian politics.

We initially propose breaking up into three to four simultaneous sessions on:

1/ German domestic politics at the end of the Merkel era

2/ German foreign policy: how is Germany responding to current international challenges

3/ Germany and the EU: how successful is Germany’s EU presidency proving?

4/ Political change in Austria: the first year of the ÖVP / Green government

Our plan will be that there will be a moderator, who will introduce a few thoughts on the topic, and then hand over to others in the room.  Participants will be free to move between rooms.  There will then be a short bit of feedback after these hour-long sessions, then the opportunity for some exciting, international networking over Zoom.

This event is open to non-members with an interest as well, so please do share this with your networks.
